Kiersten (she/her) is currently seeking registration as a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Kiersten holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Queens University, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Saskatchewan. Before pursuing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, Kiersten spent two decades as a geologist and leader in the Energy Industry. Kiersten’s gender transition in 2017 gave her the gift of a deeper and more genuine connection with many people in her life. With this new connection came new insight and appreciation for the diversity of challenges many people face, as well as the impact and importance of creating safe, equitable, inclusive, and culturally competent support for all.
Ultimately, her experience ignited a passion for pursuing education and training in psychology, empowering her to pay forward the support she received. Kiersten is passionate about social advocacy in her community, a proud executive board member of the Airdrie Pride Society, and a board director with Distress Centre Calgary. These volunteer roles also enable her to stay connected with various supports and programs in our community.
